The International Currency Association (ICA) welcomes Freiberger EuroMetall GmbH and CCL Secure as members. Their membership strengthens ICA’s representation across both coin and banknote supply chains, reinforces ICA’s role as the unified voice for cash worldwide, and further positions the Global Currency Forum as the premier global meeting place for the currency community.
The ICA Board unanimously welcomed both companies as they are key players in the industry and clearly meet and exemplify the recently adopted ICA membership criteria in terms of industry experience, international footprint and recognised quality standards and certifications.

Freiberger EuroMetall, based in Germany, is a privately owned manufacturer specialising in the development, production and distribution of circulation coin blanks. Founded in 2013, the company builds on an 800-year coinage tradition in the Freiberg region, combining this heritage with modern, resource-efficient production technologies. In 2023 it significantly expanded its footprint by acquiring Mint of Finland’s German blank manufacturing operations and a 50% stake in Spanish blank producer Compañía Europea de Cospeles S.A., enhancing its international reach and capacity.
CCL Secure, headquartered in Australia, is a global leader in polymer banknote substrate and a division of CCL Industries Inc. A founding ICA member, CCL Secure is now returning to the Association, bringing back one of the key players in the banknote industry to the ICA community. CCL Secure has more than 35 years of experience in the currency industry and operates production facilities in Australia, the United Kingdom and Mexico. Its polymer substrate has been used for over 80 billion banknotes across more than 170 denominations, supporting central banks and issuing authorities on every continent.
As new members, Freiberger EuroMetall and CCL Secure will be invited to contribute to ICA’s work on sustainability, cash promotion and to the continued development of the Global Currency Forum. Their engagement reinforces ICA’s mission to represent the full currency industry and to advocate for cash as an essential part of resilient, inclusive payment systems worldwide.
