ICA Appoints Susanne Maise as Director General
The Board of the International Currency Association (ICA) has appointed Dr. Susanne Maise as Director General, effective February 15th, 2019.
“We are delighted to welcome Dr. Maise on board at an exciting time for our industry”, said Dr. Wolfram Seidemann, Chairman of the ICA Board. “Her track record in successfully managing associations, her experience in interacting with governmental and non-governmental organisations, and her expertise in organising conferences will be very valuable to the ICA. We are confident that we found the right person to professionalise and internationalise the ICA.”
Maise brings 18 years of experience working with European and international associations to the position of Director General at the ICA. More recently she held the position of Executive Director of Operations at CropLife International, an international association based in Brussels, where she was in charge of meetings and events, regulatory and advocacy, strategy, finance, HR, legal, trademark management and compliance questions. Prior to that, Maise worked at Syngenta AG and at a research laboratory in Switzerland. She holds a doctorate from the TU Munich and an Executive MBA from Georgetown University, Washington DC.
Commenting on her appointment, Maise said: “I feel honored to work with the currency industry in my new position as Director General of the ICA and look forward to contributing to its success. Societal developments have significantly changed the work of associations in the past decade, and the ICA will benefit from including these aspects in their approach. Together, we will make the ICA’s Global Currency Forum 2020 conference in Barcelona a success and ensure that cash remains an integral part of the payment landscape now and in future.”
Maise succeeds Guillaume Lepecq who decided to step down from his post as DG of the ICA, effective February 15th, 2019. The ICA would like to thank him for his services and wishes him all the best in his future endeavours.
The International Currency Association ICA, a not-for-profit organisation, was founded in 2016 to create a cohesive voice for the currency industry, and to identify and prioritise research and best practice sharing in order to drive the constant innovation needed to keep currency as a preferred payment of choice.
